Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease a large round cast iron frying pan.
Melt the butter in a large glass bowl in the microwave.
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a medium bowl.
Measure the milk in a 2 cup measuring cup, and then add the eggs to the milk. Whisk with a fork.
Add the milk and eggs to the melted butter, and mix well.
Add flour mixture. A wooden spoon works well. The batter should be stiff.
Add the raisins and caraway seeds, and mix in.
Put the batter in the frying pan. Make a cross on the top with your finger, and bless the person or persons with whom you will be sharing this.
Bake for 1 hour, or until a tester comes out clean.
Cool on a rack for 10 minutes, or turn out immediately and serve hot.
