We visited an opal merchant, Altman & Cherny, one apparently of very long standing. Our hostess gave us a brief presentation about Australian Opals, and where they come from, and then we looked at lots of opals in display cases.
Not cheap! Way beyond my means, even if I had been interested. I had thought about getting Linda one, but the prices were 2 or 3 orders of magnitude higher than what I had in mind.
