TheAARP Foundation Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation service. Volunteers in this program prepare taxes for low and moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to seniors. The national program helped over 1.7 million taxpayers in Tax Year 2024, with over 28,000 volunteers at over 3,300 sites.

We are ready to prepare your taxes!
We are a coalition of 60 AARP Foundation Tax-Aide New Hampshire and IRS VITA and TCE tax preparation sites. We prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals of all ages and most occupations. There are no charges for our services.
When you come for your free tax preparation appointment, you will need to bring some items. (Checklist of things you need):
The more information you bring, the more accurately we can prepare your return. (Checklist of documents you may have received.)
An appointment is not a guarantee that we can prepare your return. Our volunteers are trained in many aspects of tax law, but some tax matters are considered “Out-of-Scope” (Checklist of reasons why we may not be able to prepare your return)

Tax-Aide Needs Volunteers! Not all Volunteers do Taxes!
In New Hampshire, 278 Tax-Aide volunteers e-filed over 10,000 returns this past year at 43 locations, helping taxpayers get more than $10,000,000 in refunds while saving them millions in fees. This can’t happen without volunteers like you.

Tax-Aide is a free tax preparation service sponsored by AARP Foundation and certified by the IRS. We are looking for compassionate and friendly people to join our volunteer team. We provide the training and support to help you learn new skills, and you’ll get a great feeling from helping those in need.
In addition to tax return preparation counselors, Tax-Aide also needs volunteers to assist with administrative duties such as volunteer recruiting, reaching out to taxpayers, arranging appointments, and registering them, as well as individuals with technical expertise to oversee computer systems, printers, and address network problems.
